Arrival

  • After a long flight, arrived during a "sandstorm" – mostly just hazy. Tel Aviv is crazy humid.
  • Most airport terminals have corporate ads. We were greeted by Evangelical Christian propaganda. Sort of a Make Israel Great Again!
  • First impression of the people: friendly, courteous and they know how to queue, never passing by without saying “excuse me” or “sorry”.
  • Didn’t know two adults could move six suitcases + carry-on. Lena pulled her weight too.
  • No trouble at all with Israeli customs, which is famous for asking questions. Let’s see if we can make it a streak.
  • Highway: Trees and hills and drivers who don’t use their indicators. Cars of all sorts.
  • Jerusalem is a city of hills and valleys, so the motorways twist and turn in all directions. Navigating will take some time.
  • Between cranes and roadwork, the city seems to be under construction all the time.
  • Jerusalem is very hot, but thankfully dry – far better than North America in summer.
